Geological properties

Larvikite is an igneous rock, part of the feldspar group, primarily composed of monzonite and characterised by the presence of feldspar minerals that display an optical effect called schiller or labradorescence. This effect produces flashes of blue, silver, or green when viewed from different angles. Larvikite forms in large plutons within the Earth's crust, particularly in the Larvik region of Norway, which is where it gets its name.
